HOW YOU CAN GET
INVOLVED
If you’re going to a show that we’ll be at and want to eat:
Just look for the balloons. This may be easier said than done. You
can also email us the day of the show at
imhere@tailgateforacause.com and we’ll email you our location (via Blackberry).
Alternatively, if you can text message or email us your cell phone number ahead of time,
we’ll text message you from the show with our location. Either way works – text message
or email, but we’d need your mobile phone number ahead of time for text messaging.
If you’re going to a show that we’ll be at
and want to be part of our crew:
Let us know ahead of time, as well as what kind of time constraints
you have ("Hey man, I can help but I really love the opener, and I’ll
be wasted by the end of the show, so I’m prolly good to help you set
up but that’s it"). Please send us an email
and include your phone number as well as the show date/s that you’re attending.
We’ll need help on–site with:
- Working the lots – spreading the word, as most people who attend
will not have seen this website ahead of time and will have to be recruited
at the show.
- Working the lines – things can get pretty hectic pretty quick on
site, and we need help monitoring things so the quiet person in the back who keeps
getting cut in front of gets noticed. We’ve also, on rare and ugly occasion, had people
attempt to outright steal food. The only way to steal something that’s free is to act real
sneaky, open the cooler, put some soda in your pocket, and walk away without talking to
anyone. Yep, it happened.
- Cooking – kind of self–explanatory, and probably the area we
need the least help with. But, if you’re a chef, we won’t turn you down.
- Site Supplies – We can always use help from dependable folks who
can help with the non–hardware supplies for temporary use. This includes
tables, chairs, coolers, and grills.
If you’d like to host your own TFAC:
Here’s where it gets a little sticky. We’ve decided that there's
going to be one Cause per year, and this year's Cause is already
decided, Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
If you’d like to help raise funds, and are going to a show that we
aren’t already going to be at (click here to see which
shows we'll be at), then we can provide the capital for you to
purchase the supplies, and also logistical support as well. Clearly we’d have
to chat extensively as there’s a good chunk of change moving around and we would
need to make sure that all our, and your, ducks are in a row.
The primary goal is to raise funds for The Cause. The secondary goal is to establish
credibility for the TFAC’s in the future. We can’t do that if we aren’t very cautious
about how TFAC is represented.
